Our ability to choose is the most important power we have. It is what separates us from the 'animals.' Animals and other non-conscious* beings rely on instinct to survive. Not so with us humans. We have the ability to choose. Its the essence of Free Will. The Power To Choose.
So why is the power to choose such an important and powerful thing?
Because everything is a choice. Everything we do, everything we say, everything we are, every act we perform, represents a choice that we have made. Our lives today, as we sit here, you reading, me writing, are the sum total of every single of the billions if not trillions of choices we have made throughout our lives.
The power to choose is the true secret of the universe. There is one more true secret, but I will explain it in another post. However, it works only because of the power to choose.
So, this is it. I just told you the secret to the universe. It is your power to choose.
Imagine if you were very focused on a particular outcome. Maybe you want to lose weight, maybe you want to get a better job, maybe you are looking for true love. Think about what would happen if every time a choice needed to be made, you made the choice that moved you closer to your goal.
Let us take weight loss as a goal. You wake up in the morning and you have a choice - your normal routine of eggs, bacon, a big glass of milk, maybe some toast and a pastry, or a big bowl of fruit and some lemonade flavored with stevia? Which choice will lead you towards your goal? You get home from work and are tired. Your choices are sit and watch tv, or get off your butt and do some exercise. Which do you choose?
Now apply that to whatever you want to achieve. Do you want to be a dancer? Do you want to be super fit? Do you want to play hockey? Do you want to be a better husband or wife? Whatever you want to do, whatever you want to achieve in life, I want you to sit down and close your eyes and imagine what would happen if every time a choice came up that moved you closer to or farther away from your goal, if you chose the option that moved you closer to your goal, what would happen? You would succeed. Period. Full Stop. End of discussion.
There is much more to this, and this 'other bit' makes achieving your goalsmuch easier, but that is for another post. Even without it, though, if you always choose the option that leads you towards your goals, you can not fail.
Its that simple. Our lives are a string of one choice after another. Every day, every action we take, we make choices. And those choices absolutely 100% define who we are and how our lives present to the universe.
You absolutely, 100%, have the power to do ANYTHING you want. ANYTHING. There is nothing you cannot achieve. All you have to do is make more choices that move you towards your goal than away from your goal. The better your choices, the faster you will get there. But you will get there. I promise.
I could go on and on with examples and stories about how this works, but the essence of the secret to the universe is all right here. Read this article every day and every night. Let it sink in. Memorize it. Say it backwards and forwards. Because the single most powerful weapon you have against everything you hate in your life is your POWER TO CHOOSE DIFFERENTLY.
Now go make good choices.

* Consciousness is defined as: perceiving, apprehending, or noticing with a degree of controlled thought or observation.
Note the word controlled. This means that the conscious entity controls their thoughts. Or in other words, the conscious entity is in control and capable of choice. The non-conscious entity does not control their thoughts. They can only respond via instinct. Their responses are automatic, as if running a computer program.
