Natural Repulsion Of.............

The destructive narcissistic mother who creates a child who only exists to be an extension of herself.

It's about secret things. It's about body language. It's about disapproving glances. It's about vocal tone.

It's very intimate. And it's very powerful.

It's part of who the child is, or is being created to be.

“Narcisstic mothers do not have children for the same reasons the rest of us do…. They have children so that the children will love them unconditionally, not the other way around. They have children to do things for them. They have children to reflect their false images. They have children to use, abuse and control them….For the narcissistic mother, each step away from her is an absolute act of betrayal….they train their children to believe that they are the ideal mother. Any evidence to the contrary is to be kept secret at all costs. They will behave much differently toward their children in public than they do at home…. Narcissistic mothers don’t stop being narcissists when their children become adults….These mothers steal their kids’ childhoods, identities and future healthy relationships. They will keep on taking and sucking the life out of their children for as long as they live, if their children allow it.

Characteristics of Narcissistic Mothers

1. Everything she does is deniable. There is always a facile excuse or an explanation. Cruelties are couched in loving terms. Aggressive and hostile acts are paraded as thoughtfulness. Selfish manipulations are presented as gifts. Criticism and slander is slyly disguised as concern. She only wants what is best for you. She only wants to help you.

She rarely says right out that she thinks you’re inadequate. Instead, any time that you tell her you’ve done something good, she counters with something your sibling did that was better or she simply ignores you or she hears you out without saying anything, then in a short time does something cruel to you so you understand not to get above yourself. She will carefully separate cause (your joy in your accomplishment) from effect (refusing to let you borrow the car to go to the awards ceremony) by enough time that someone who didn’t live through her abuse would never believe the connection.

Many of her putdowns are simply by comparison. She’ll talk about how wonderful someone else is or what a wonderful job they did on something you’ve also done or how highly she thinks of them. The contrast is left up to you. She has let you know that you’re no good without saying a word. She’ll spoil your pleasure in something by simply congratulating you for it in an angry, envious voice that conveys how unhappy she is, again, completely deniably. It is impossible to confront someone over their tone of voice, their demeanor or they way they look at you, but once your narcissistic mother has you trained, she can promise terrible punishment without a word. As a result, you’re always afraid, always in the wrong, and can never exactly put your finger on why.

Because her abusiveness is part of a lifelong campaign of control and because she is careful to rationalize her abuse, it is extremely difficult to explain to other people what is so bad about her. She’s also careful about when and how she engages in her abuses. She’s very secretive, a characteristic of almost all abusers (“Don’t wash our dirty laundry in public!”) and will punish you for telling anyone else what she’s done. The times and locations of her worst abuses are carefully chosen so that no one who might intervene will hear or see her bad behavior, and she will seem like a completely different person in public. She’ll slam you to other people, but will always embed her devaluing nuggets of snide gossip in protestations of concern, love and understanding (“I feel so sorry for poor Cynthia. She always seems to have such a hard time, but I just don’t know what I can do for her!”) As a consequence the children of narcissists universally report that no one believes them (“I have to tell you that she always talks about YOU in the most caring way!). Unfortunately therapists, given the deniable actions of the narcissist and eager to defend a fellow parent, will often jump to the narcissist’s defense as well, reinforcing your sense of isolation and helplessness (“I’m sure she didn’t mean it like that!”)

2. She violates your boundaries. You feel like an extension of her. Your property is given away without your consent, sometimes in front of you. Your food is eaten off your plate or given to others off your plate. Your property may be repossessed and no reason given other than that it was never yours. Your time is committed without consulting you, and opinions purported to be yours are expressed for you. (She LOVES going to the fair! He would never want anything like that. She wouldn’t like kumquats.) You are discussed in your presence as though you are not there. She keeps tabs on your bodily functions and humiliates you by divulging the information she gleans, especially when it can be used to demonstrate her devotion and highlight her martyrdom to your needs (“Mike had that problem with frequent urination too, only his was much worse. I was so worried about him!”) You have never known what it is like to have privacy in the bathroom or in your bedroom, and she goes through your things regularly. She asks nosy questions, snoops into your email/letters/diary/conversations. She will want to dig into your feelings, particularly painful ones and is always looking for negative information on you which can be used against you. She does things against your expressed wishes frequently. All of this is done without seeming embarrassment or thought.

Any attempt at autonomy on your part is strongly resisted. Normal rites of passage (learning to shave, wearing makeup, dating) are grudgingly allowed only if you insist, and you’re punished for your insistence (“Since you’re old enough to date, I think you’re old enough to pay for your own clothes!”) If you demand age-appropriate clothing, grooming, control over your own life, or rights, you are difficult and she ridicules your “independence.”

3. She plays favorites. Narcissistic mothers commonly choose one child to be the golden child and one to be the scapegoat. The narcissist identifies with the golden child and provides privileges to him or her as long as the golden child does just as she wants. She attempts to replicate herself in the golden child. The golden child has to be cared for assiduously by everyone in the family. The scapegoat has no needs and instead gets to do the caring, or is ignored, or is harmed. The golden child can do nothing wrong. The scapegoat is always at fault. This creates divisions between the children, one of whom has a large investment in the mother being wise and wonderful, and the other(s) who hate her. That division will be fostered by the narcissist with lies and with blatantly unfair and favoritizing behavior. The golden child will defend the mother and indirectly perpetuate the abuse by finding reasons to blame the scapegoat for the mother’s actions. The golden child may also directly take on the narcissistic mother’s tasks by physically abusing the scapegoat so the narcissistic mother doesn’t have to do that herself.

4. She undermines. Your accomplishments are acknowledged only to the extent that she can take credit for them. Any success or accomplishment for which she cannot take credit is ignored or diminished. Any time you are to be center stage and there is no opportunity for her to be the center of attention, she will try to prevent the occasion altogether, or she doesn’t come, or she leaves early, or she acts like it’s no big deal, or she steals the spotlight or she slips in little wounding comments about how much better someone else did or how what you did wasn’t as much as you could have done or as you think it is. She undermines you by picking fights with you or being especially unpleasant just before you have to make a major effort. She acts put out if she has to do anything to support your opportunities or will outright refuse to do even small things in support of you. She will be nasty to you about things that are peripherally connected with your successes so that you find your joy in what you’ve done is tarnished, without her ever saying anything directly about it. No matter what your success, she has to take you down a peg about it.

5. She demeans, criticizes and denigrates. She lets you know in all sorts of little ways that she thinks less of you than she does of your siblings or of other people in general. If you complain about mistreatment by someone else, she will take that person’s side even if she doesn’t know them at all. She doesn’t care about those people or the justice of your complaints. She just wants to let you know that you’re never right.

She will deliver generalized barbs that are almost impossible to rebut (often in a caring tone): “You were always difficult” “You can be very difficult to love” “You never seemed to be able to finish anything” “You were very hard to live with” “You’re always causing trouble” “No one could put up with the things you do.” She will deliver slams in a sidelong way - for example she’ll complain about how “no one” loves her, does anything for her, or cares about her, or she’ll complain that “everyone” is so selfish, when you’re the only person in the room. As always, this combines criticism with deniability.

She will slip little comments into conversation that she really enjoyed something she did with someone else - something she did with you too, but didn’t like as much. She’ll let you know that her relationship with some other person you both know is wonderful in a way your relationship with her isn’t - the carefully unspoken message being that you don’t matter much to her.

She minimizes, discounts or ignores your opinions and experiences. Your insights are met with condescension, denials and accusations (“I think you read too much!”) and she will brush off your information even on subjects on which you are an acknowledged expert. Whatever you say is met with smirks and amused sounding or exaggerated exclamations (“Uh huh!” “You don’t say!” “Really!”). She’ll then make it clear that she didn’t listen to a word you said. She doesn’t care what you said.

6. She makes you look crazy. If you try to confront her about something she’s done, she’ll tell you that you have “a very vivid imagination” (this is a phrase commonly used by abusers of all sorts to invalidate your experience of their abuse), that you don’t know what you’re talking about, or that she has no idea what you’re talking about. She will claim not to remember even very memorable events, flatly denying they ever happened, nor will she ever acknowledge any possibility that she might have forgotten. This is an extremely aggressive and exceptionally infuriating tactic called “gaslighting,” common to abusers of all kinds but especially used by the subtlety of narcissists.. Your perceptions of reality are continually undermined so that you end up being extremely confused, and wondering if you are as she says you are; usually, you will begin to believe deeply her lies about you. You will end up without any confidence in your intuition, your memory or your powers of reasoning. This makes you a much better victim for the narcissistic abuser.

Narcissists gaslight routinely. The narcissist will either insinuate or will tell you outright that you’re unstable, otherwise you wouldn’t believe such ridiculous things or be so uncooperative. You’re oversensitive. You’re imagining things. You’re hysterical. You’re completely unreasonable. You’re over-reacting, like you always do. She’ll tell you that she’ll talk to you when you’ve calmed down and aren’t so irrational. She may even characterize you as being neurotic or psychotic to your face, but often will say these things to others, particularly to other family members in her efforts to destroy your credibility Once she’s constructed these fantasies of your emotional pathologies, she’ll tell others about them, as always, presenting her smears as expressions of concern and declaring her own helpless victimhood. She didn’t do anything. She has no idea why you’re so irrationally angry with her. You’ve hurt her terribly. She cannot understand why you won’t talk to her or won’t spend time with her. She thinks you may need psychotherapy. She just doesn’t know what to do (and she’ll ask others for their opinion of you, carefully skewing the impressions they have of you to fit her image of you). You keep pushing her away when all she wants to do is help you.

She has simultaneously absolved herself of any responsibility for your obvious antipathy towards her, implied that it’s something fundamentally wrong with you that makes you angry with her, and undermined your credibility with her listeners. She plays the role of the doting mother so perfectly that no one will believe you.

7. She’s extremely envious. Any time you get something nice she’s angry and envious and her envy will be apparent when she admires whatever it is. She’ll try to get it from you, spoil it for you, or get the same or better for herself. She’s always working on ways to get what other people have. The envy of narcissistic mothers often includes competing sexually with their daughters or daughters-in-law. They’ll attempt to forbid their daughters to wear makeup, to groom themselves in an age-appropriate way or to date. Or they will encourage you to present yourself in a sexually provocative way, and then they will directly compete with you for male attention. They will criticize the appearance of their daughters and daughters-in-law, no matter what their appearance is like. This envy extends to relationships. Narcissistic mothers infamously attempt to damage their children’s marriages and interfere in the upbringing of their grandchildren.

8. She’s a liar in too many ways to count. In fact, her lying usually reaches pathological proportions. Any time she talks about something that has emotional significance for her, it’s a fair bet that she’s lying. Lying is one way that she creates conflict in the relationships and lives of those around her - she’ll lie to them about what other people have said, what they’ve done, or how they feel. She’ll lie about her relationship with them, about your behavior or about your situation in order to inflate herself, cause divisions between people, and to undermine your credibility.

The narcissist is very careful about how she lies. To outsiders she’ll lie thoughtfully and deliberately, always in a way that can be covered up if she’s confronted with her lie. She spins what you said rather than makes something up wholesale. She puts dishonest interpretations on things you actually did. If she’s recently done something particularly egregious she may engage in preventative lying: she lies in advance to discount what you might say before you even say it. Then when you talk about what she did you’ll be cut off with “I already know all about it…your mother told me... (self-justifications and lies).” Because she is so careful about her deniability, it may be very hard to catch her in her lies and the more gullible of her friends may never realize how dishonest she is. If you do try to take action to expose her lies, you will look like the one with ‘the problem’ as she has carefully cultivated others to believe you are. The more emotional or dramatic you become in trying to have others see the truth of how you are treated by her, the more unbalanced you will look and the more solid will become their agreement with her subtle assessment of you that she’s planted into them.

To you, she’ll lie blatantly. She will claim to be unable to remember bad things she has done, even if she did one of them recently and even if it was something very memorable. Of course, if you try to jog her memory by recounting the circumstances “You have a very vivid imagination” or “That was so long ago. Why do you have to dredge up your old grudges?” Your conversations with her are full of casual brush-offs and diversionary lies and she doesn’t respect you enough to bother making it sound good. For example she’ll start with a self-serving lie: “If I don’t take you as a dependent on my taxes I’ll lose three thousand dollars!” You refute her lie with an obvious truth: “No, three thousand dollars is the amount of the dependent exemption. You’ll only lose about eight hundred dollars.” Her response: “Isn’t that what I said?” You are now in a game with only one rule: You can’t win. If you press the issue, you will slowly see the outrageous anger that a narcissist can display towards you – she will only show you or others whom she has devalued and ‘split off’; others who are still useful to her will not see this side of her. Thus, if you try to tell others of the depth of her anger or her fury or her harm, they simply will not believe you.

9. She has to be the center of attention all the time. This need is a defining trait of narcissists and particularly of narcissistic mothers for whom their children exist to be sources of attention and adoration. Narcissistic mothers love to be waited on and often pepper their children with little requests. “While you’re up…” or its equivalent is one of their favorite phrases. You couldn’t just be assigned a chore at the beginning of the week or of the day, instead, you have to do her wishes on demand, preferably at a time that was inconvenient for you, or you had to “help” her do it, while she quietly glories in the command and control she wields over you. For a narcissist, it is always, and only, about them. Your primary function is to satisfy their needs and wants.

A narcissistic mother may create odd occasions at which she can be the center of attention, such as memorials for someone close to her who died long ago, or major celebrations of small personal milestones. She may love to entertain so she can be the life of her own party. She will try to steal the spotlight or will try to spoil any occasion where someone else is the center of attention, particularly the child she has cast as the scapegoat. She often invites herself along where she isn’t welcome. If she visits you or you visit her, you are required to spend all your time with her, doing as she wants. Entertaining herself is unthinkable. She has always pouted, manipulated or raged if you tried to do anything without her, didn’t want to entertain her, refused to wait on her, stymied her plans for a drama or otherwise deprived her of attention.

Older narcissistic mothers often use the natural limitations of aging to manipulate dramas, often by neglecting their health or by doing things they know will make them ill. Sometimes they will do this by addictions to alcohol or drugs or other obsessions. This gives them the opportunity to cash in on the investment they made when they trained you to wait on them as a child. Then they call you (or better still, get the neighbor or the nursing home administrator to call you) demanding your immediate attendance. You are to rush to her side, pat her hand, weep over her pain and listen sympathetically to her unending complaints about how hard and awful it is. (“Never get old!”) It’s almost never the case that you can actually do anything useful, and the causes of her disability may have been completely avoidable, but you’ve been put in an extremely difficult position. If you don’t provide the audience and attention she’s manipulating to get, you look extremely bad to everyone else and may even have legal culpability. (Narcissistic behaviors commonly accompany Alzheimer’s disease, so this behavior may also occur in perfectly normal mothers as they age. But, in narcissistic mothers, it is a given.)

10. She manipulates your emotions in order to feed on your pain. This exceptionally sick and bizarre behavior is so common among narcissistic mothers that their children often call them “emotional vampires.” Some of this emotional feeding comes in the form of pure sadism. She does and says things just to be wounding or she engages in tormenting teasing or she needles you about things you’re sensitive about, all the while a smile plays over her lips. She may have taken you to scary movies or told you horrifying stories, then mocked you for being a baby when you cried. She will slip a wounding comment into conversation and smile delightedly into your hurt face. You can hear the laughter in her voice as she pressures you or says distressing things to you. Later she’ll gloat over how much she upset you, gaily telling other people that you’re so much fun to tease, and recruiting others to share in her amusement. . She enjoys her cruelties and makes no effort to disguise the smaller cruelties – the most serious cruelties, she will perform with you in secret or when just you and she are alone. She wants you to know that your pain entertains her. She may also bring up subjects that are painful for you and probe you about them, all the while watching you carefully. This is emotional vampirism in its purest form. She’s feeding emotionally off your pain. She enjoys your pain. This may be the hardest aspect of the character of mothers with narcissistic personality disorder to believe and accept. After all, she is your mother.

A peculiar form of this emotional vampirism combines attention-seeking behavior with a demand that the audience suffer. Since narcissistic mothers often play the martyr this may take the form of wrenching, self-pitying dramas which she carefully produces, and in which she is the star performer. She sobs and wails that no one loves her and everyone is so selfish, and she doesn’t want to live, she wants to die! She wants to die! She will not seem to care how much the manipulation of their emotions and the self-pity repels other people. One weird behavior that is very common to narcissists: her dramas may also center around the tragedies of other people, often relating how much she suffered by association as she cries over the horrible murder of someone she wouldn’t recognize if they had passed her on the street.

11. She’s selfish and willful. She always makes sure she has the best of everything. She insists on having her own way all the time and she will ruthlessly, manipulatively pursue it, even if what she wants isn’t worth all the effort she’s putting into it and even if that effort goes far beyond normal behavior. She will make a huge effort to get something you denied her, even if it was entirely your right to do so and even if her demand was selfish and unreasonable. If you tell her she cannot bring her friends to your party she will show up with them anyway, and she will have told them that they were invited so that you either have to give in, or be the bad guy to these poor dupes on your doorstep. If you tell her she can’t come over to your house tonight she’ll call your spouse and try get him or her to agree that she can, and to not say anything to you about it because it’s a “surprise.” She has to show you that you can’t tell her “no.”

One near-universal characteristic of narcissists: because they are so selfish and self-centered, they are very bad gift givers. They’ll give you hand-me-downs or market things for themselves as gifts for you (“I thought I’d give you my old bicycle and buy myself a new one!” “I know how much you love Italian food, so I’m going to take you to my favorite restaurant for your birthday!”) New gifts are often obviously cheap and are usually things that don’t suit you or that you can’t use or are a quid pro quo: if you buy her the gift she wants, she will buy you an item of your choice. She’ll make it clear that it pains her to give you anything. She may buy you a gift and get the identical item for herself, or take you shopping for a gift and get herself something nice at the same time to make herself feel better.

12. She’s self-absorbed, totally self-centered. Her feelings, needs and wants are very important; yours are insignificant to the point that her least whim takes precedence over your most basic needs. Her problems deserve your immediate and full attention; yours are brushed aside. Her wishes always take precedence; if she does something for you, she reminds you constantly of her munificence in doing so and will often try to extract some sort of payment. She will complain constantly, even though your situation may be much worse than hers. If you point that out, she will effortlessly, thoughtlessly brush it aside as of no importance (It’s easy for you…/It’s different for you…). If you refuse to give her the attention that she demands, she may cut you off and ignore you outright.

13. She is insanely defensive and is extremely sensitive to any criticism. If you criticize her or defy her she will explode with fury, threaten, storm, rage, destroy and may become violent, beating, confining, putting her child outdoors in bad weather or otherwise engaging in classic physical abuse and emotional abuse. It’s easy to provoke her wrath because she takes everything personally and any attitude short of constant emotional and physical availability is perceived as a slight. If you’re short with her because you’re exhausted and depressed, she has to have it out with you over your “hostility.” If a toddler shouts “I hate you” at her she gets angry and punitive – punishment is payment and is often cruel and way out of proportion to the event. If you refuse her nosy request to let her read the letter you got she shouts about how unappreciative you are and how you only think of yourself…. She has no sense of perspective or separation – there are no boundaries between narcissistic mothers and their targeted daughter - and she can’t let anything go. Because the narcissistic mother is so extremely defensive, she is completely resistant to change. Narcissists infamously cannot be helped because they simply refuse to see that there is anything wrong with their behavior – it is not them, it is you..

14. She terrorizes. All abusers use fear to control their victims, and your narcissistic mother used it ruthlessly to train you. Narcissists teach you to beware their wrath even when they aren’t present. You are very very afraid of them, to your core. The only alternative you have is constant placation. If you give her everything she wants all the time, you might be spared. If you don’t, the punishments will come. Even adult children of narcissists still feel that carefully inculcated fear. Your narcissistic mother can turn it on with a silence or a look that tells the child in you she’s thinking about how she’s going to get even.

Not all narcissists abuse physically, but most do, often in subtle, deniable ways. It allows them to vent their rage at your failure to be the solution to their internal chaos and havoc (narcissists are deeply self-loathing but absolutely will not let themselves feel that), and simultaneously to teach you to fear them. They want you to fear them. You may not have been beaten, but you were almost certainly left to endure physical pain when a normal mother would have made an effort to relieve your misery. This deniable form of battery allows her to store up her rage and dole out the punishment at a later time when she’s worked out an airtight rationale for her abuse, so she never risks exposure. You were left hungry because “you eat too much.” You always went to school with stomach flu because “you don’t have a fever. You’re just trying to get out of school.” (She resents having to take care of you. You have a lot of nerve getting sick and adding to her burdens.) She refuses to look at your bloody heels and instead the shoes that wore those blisters on your heels are put back on your feet and you’re sent to the store in them because “You wanted those shoes. Now you can wear them.” (You didn’t want these shoes. All you said was that the ones she wanted to get you were ugly. She liked them because they were just like what she wore 30 years ago). The dentist was told not to give you Novocaine when he drilled your tooth because “she has to learn to take better care of his teeth.” Unlike psychopaths (which is an extreme version of narcissism), narcissists do understand right, wrong, and consequences, so they are not ordinarily criminal. She beat you, but not to the point where you went to the hospital. She left you standing out in the cold until you were miserable, but not until you had hypothermia. She put you in the basement in the dark with no clothes on, but she only left you there for two hours. She sadistically used you in some way, but never when someone else could witness it, and she bought you an ice cream or let you watch a movie afterwards.

Narcissistic mothers also abuse by loosing others on you or by failing to protect you when a normal mother would have. Sometimes the narcissist’s golden child will be encouraged to abuse the scapegoat. She finds some kind of pleasure when she is able to turn others against you and manipulate them into harming you. Narcissists also abuse by exposing you to violence or to horror of various kinds. If one of your siblings got beaten, she made sure you saw. She effortlessly put the fear of Mom into you, without even touching you.

15. She’s infantile and petty. Narcissistic mothers are often simply childish. If you refuse to let her manipulate you into doing something, she will cry that you don’t love her because if you loved her you would do as she wanted. If you hurt her feelings she will aggressively whine to you that you’ll be sorry when she’s dead that you didn’t treat her better. Anytime she feels hard-done-by, she pouts and whines, or she gives the silent treatment. When you were a child, she would justify things she did to you by pointing out something that you did that she felt was comparable, as though the childish behavior of a child was justification for the childish behavior of an adult. “Getting even” is a large part of her dealings with you. Scores must be settled, and she will wait for an opportunity to take action to settle a score. Anytime you fail to give her the deference, attention or service she feels she deserves, or you thwart her wishes, she has to show you.

16. She’s aggressive and shameless. She doesn’t ask. She demands. She makes outrageous requests and she’ll take anything she wants if she thinks she can get away with it. Her demands of her children are posed in a very aggressive way, as are her criticisms. She won’t take no for an answer, pushing and arm-twisting and manipulating to get you to give in.

17. She “parentifies.” She shed her responsibilities to you as soon as she was able (sometimes as early as birth), leaving you to take care of yourself as best you could. She may deny you medical care, adequate clothing, necessary transportation or basic comforts that she would never have considered giving up herself. She, without exception, will deny you herself – she will give you nothing of her. She never gave you a birthday party or let you have sleepovers. Your friends were never welcome in her house. She didn’t like to drive you anywhere, so you turned down invitations because you had no way to get there. She wouldn’t buy your school pictures even if she could easily have afforded it. As soon as you got a job, every request for school supplies, clothing or toiletries was met with “Now that you’re making money, why don’t you pay for that yourself?”

She also gave you tasks that were rightfully hers and should not have been placed on a child. You may have been a primary caregiver for young siblings or an incapacitated parent. You may have had responsibility for excessive household tasks. You may have been the go-between between she and your father, or she and others with whom she had a rocky relationship. Above all, you were always her emotional caregiver which is one reason any defection from that role caused such enormous eruptions of rage. You were never allowed to be needy or have bad feelings or problems. Those experiences were only for her, and you were responsible for making it right for her. From the time you were very young she would randomly lash out at you any time she was stressed or angry with your father or felt that life was unfair to her, because it made her feel better to hurt you. You were often punished out of the blue, for manufactured offenses. As you got older she directly placed responsibility for her welfare and her emotions on you, weeping on your shoulder and unloading on you any time something went awry for her, and forcing you to carry the weight of her emotional burdens.

18. She’s exploitative. She will manipulate to get work, money, or objects she envies out of other people for nothing. This includes her children, of course. If she set up a bank account for you, she was trustee on the account with the right to withdraw money. As you put money into it, she took it out. She may have stolen your identity. She drug you into her schemes and made you a part of her wrongdoing. She used you as a protective cover for herself. If she made an agreement with you, it was violated the minute it no longer served her needs. If you brought it up, demanding she adhere to the agreement, she brushed you off and later punished you so you would know not to defy her again.

Sometimes the narcissist will exploit a child to absorb punishment that would have been hers from an abusive partner. The husband comes home in a drunken rage, and the mother immediately complains about the child’s bad behavior so the rage is vented on to the child. Sometimes the narcissistic mother simply uses the child to keep a sick marriage intact because the alternative is being divorced or having to go to work. The child is sexually molested but the mother never notices, or worse, calls the child a liar when she tells the mother about the molestation.

19. She projects. This sounds a little like psycho-babble, but it is something that narcissists all do. Projection means that she will put her own bad behavior, character and traits on you so she can deny them in herself and punish you. This can be very difficult to see if you have traits that she can project on to. An eating-disordered woman who obsesses over her daughter’s weight is projecting. The daughter may not realize it because she has probably internalized an absurdly thin vision of women’s weight and so accepts her mother’s projection. When the narcissist tells the daughter that she eats too much, needs to exercise more, or has to wear extra-large size clothes, the daughter believes it, even if it isn’t true. If she is sexually conflicted, the mother will often project her own insecurities, or propensities for ‘acting out’ behaviors onto you. If she wishes that she could ‘go wild’, she will accuse you of being a whore.

She will sometimes project even though it makes no sense at all. This happens when she feels shamed and needs to put it on her scapegoat child and the projection therefore comes across as being an attack out of the blue. For example: She makes an outrageous request, and you casually decline. She’s enraged by your refusal and snarls at you that you are such an ungrateful child that she regrets having you, and says that she’s refusing to talk to you anymore. And she ‘disowns’ you. Your refusal has made her feel the shame that should have stopped her from making shameless demands in the first place. That’s intolerable to her. She can transfer that shame to you and rationalize away your response: you only refused her because you’re so unreasonable, and so selfish. Having done that she can reassert her shamelessness and indulge her childish willfulness by turning your refusal into a subject for further discussion. You’ll talk about it again “later” - probably when she’s worn you down with histrionics, anger and the silent treatment so you’re more inclined to do what she wants.

20. She is never wrong about anything. No matter what she’s done, she won’t ever genuinely apologize for anything, because she does not feel responsible. She will not take responsibility. Rarely will she apologize. If she ever feels she is being made to apologize, she will issue an insulting apology or negate the apology she has just made with justifications, qualifications or self pity: “I’m sorry you felt that I humiliated you” “I’m sorry if I made you feel bad”, “There’s nothing I can do about it now” “I’m sorry you feel clumsy, stupid and disgusting” “I’m sorry but it was just a joke. You’re so over-sensitive” “I’m sorry that my own child feels she has to upset me and make me feel bad.” The last insulting apology is also an example of projection.
21. Sometimes she seems to have no awareness that other people even have feelings, and yet she can seem to be sensitive to other people’s emotions, just not yours.

Every child of a narcissist recognizes this contradiction because narcissistic mothers do possess the ability to exercise faked - empathy, and in abundance. They can perform in ways that make them appear that they identify emotionally with people who are suffering and to express caring for them. When caring about another’s suffering interferes with something the narcissist wants, though, the caring vanishes. When a narcissistic mother wants validation, when she feels like eliciting some emotional pain, when something she wants hurts someone else, the faked-empathy is turned off as though it never existed. Narcissistic mothers have a very ‘cold’ feeling to them.

From the perspective of ability, narcissists are ‘sensitive’ in a strange way to others; indeed they have a gift of telling what other people are feeling and thinking. Their skill at discerning and guiding the emotions of other people is the basis of many characteristically narcissistic interactions. Narcissists are very socially adept which is why no one ever believes their children when they complain of their mothers. They know just how to make everyone think that they’re delightful. Narcissistic mothers are exceptional manipulators, and manipulators must be extremely aware, on a moment-by-moment basis, of the emotions of their targets. If you don’t know what people are feeling, you can’t push their buttons. Their exceptional sensitivity to the feelings of others is also the wellspring of their pleasure in inflicting emotional pain through dramas and no-win scenarios. Narcissistic mothers enjoy inflicting emotional pain and they do it very well because they know just what their “target children” are feeling. That exquisite sensitivity is the reason they don’t need to batter. They can inflict agony without lifting a finger, so why risk exposure and waste effort with beatings when they can elicit the same pain and suffering with words alone?

What narcissistic mothers lack is concern for the consequences of their actions, a behavior that seems rooted in profound selfishness. Mothers with NPD are certainly capable of feeling for others: they’re always feeling for the people with whom their scapegoat has conflicts. They feel for their fellow narcissists. They feel for people who have validated and praised them. They feel for people that they can see have potential to be used by them. They even feel for their child when it doesn’t cost them anything to do so. They just don’t feel for their child when they’re using or abusing her. They don’t feel anything that interferes with their absorption in their own wants and needs.

22. She engineers “no-win” situations that leave you violated and angry and not sure why you feel that way. In the classic “no-win” scenario, the narcissist’s child is subtly manipulated into a corner and then presented with a demand that the child do something degrading, humiliating or painful in order to please the narcissist. Any response other than compliance triggers retaliation.

These sadistic scenes are a defining characteristic of the narcissist. As so often with narcissistic behavior, the payoff for your mother is the elicitation of painful emotions. Whether you subject yourself to her degradation or you fight back and provoke punishment from the narcissist, you will experience a sense of entrapment and fear, and those emotions are very satisfying to her. Her pleasure is augmented by the pain she elicits by undermining, insulting and demeaning you and, as the scene winds down, by blaming you for the entire event. There is no way out for you in her scenarios at all.

These scenes are set up very stealthily; so much so that the children of narcissists rarely realize that a trap has been laid before it’s sprung. As always, the narcissist maintains deniability, but the consistencies between scenes betray their deliberate nature. Although the narcissist plays the scene as though it was spontaneous, it never is. It is scripted and premeditated and the stage is set well in advance. If a scene plays out away from home, you can be sure that the mother is in charge of transportation so that the child doesn’t have the option of walking away. If the scene is staged at home, it’s almost always in the absence of others, or if the child is an adult, it will occur in the mother’s home, not the child’s home, and engineered so that once again, it’s extremely difficult for the child to walk away. The narcissist commonly arranges things so she is alone with her victim, but she may also use the presence of a young child or complicit spouse to ensure that her target doesn’t react with any real force.

Often the worst part of these scenes for the child is the awareness of how much her mother enjoys her distress; the children of narcissistic mothers often describe their mother’s “little smile” and air of pleasure as she plays out the no-win scenario. When confronted, some narcissistic mothers will even defend their behavior by saying they were “just having fun.” There is no betrayal more wounding than knowing your own mother is reveling in the pain she purposely caused, nor any emotion more delicious to your narcissistic mother than your sense of shock and misery at your knowledge that she is hurting you deliberately and for fun.

In the following story, an adult daughter is manipulated into a no-win situation. If she does not want to provoke retaliation from her narcissistic mother, she must accept and express gratitude for a gift that was clearly meant as an insult:

A few days before Christmas, my mother walked into the room where I was sitting carrying a pair of old, worn tennis shoes - the kind with the rubber soles and canvas uppers. She said “I know you asked for a pair of running shoes for Christmas. I thought I could give you these and get myself a new pair instead.” My mother was a clothes horse, and always had many pairs of new running shoes in her closet. What’s more, her feet are bigger and narrower than mine, so there’s no way her shoes would have fit me, but I was too shocked and angry to think of that. I said “I don’t want your cast-offs” and she looked very satisfied and pleased and said “Fine” and walked away. That year I got no gift for Christmas, even though I had bought her something from her wish list, and even though my brother and sister got gifts from her.

I did get a letter after I got home that started “I’m sorry you felt that I offered you “cast-offs” and went on to describe how good her intentions were, how she thought I would be happy to let her do something nice for herself, and how hard she had it as the mother of an “unappreciative” child like me. This wasn’t the first time either. The preceding year she had tried to give me an old, rusty bicycle for Christmas with the stipulation that she would then get herself a new one.

This story illustrates a classic no-win scenario (although the stakes here were much smaller than many ‘no-wins’ that capable narcissists perform). Although the young woman did not realize it at the time, her mother had manipulated her into a corner. She had traveled to her mother’s house for Christmas and it was late at night. As a graduate student, she was perpetually short on funds, and going to a hotel, even if she could find one at that hour, was out of the question. None of the rest of the family was there yet, so she and her mother were alone in the house. There had been no argument or tension, and the attack by her mother came out of the blue. Her mother proposed something very insulting: she would give the daughter her own worn shoes (which didn’t fit the dtr and, for which gift the dtr was to be “appreciative”). You would have to be very aware and self-possessed to respond calmly to such a demeaning suggestion, and the dtr, tired, shocked, and angry, blurted out the first thing that came to mind. Her mother got exactly what she wanted: a good feed on the dtr’s hurt and anger, and an excuse to punish the dtr with exclusion and withholding and later with a letter filled with guilt-inducing remonstrations.

In reality her mother never planned on giving her a Christmas gift. She was angry that her dtr had made herself unavailable for abuse by going to graduate school in another state, and seeming to enjoy it very much, and she wanted to punish the dtr for her defection. So she manipulated a no-win scenario in which she could simultaneously insult the dtr and turn her predictably angry response into an opportunity for punishment and narcissistic venting. In her letter, she projected her own hostility and selfishness on to her dtr, blamed her dtr for her own bad behavior, and depicted herself as a martyr, all the while maintaining complete deniability about the deliberate nature of the original interaction. In fact, in telling of this to her other children, it is certain that the mother arranged the story so that the other siblings would ‘blame’ the daughter, thus drawing them closer to the mother and separating out the ‘split off’ daughter even more.

23. She blames. She’ll blame you for everything that isn’t right in her life or for what other people do or for whatever has happened. Always, she’ll blame you for her abuse of you. You made her do it. If only you weren’t so difficult. You upset her so much that she can’t think straight. Things were hard for her and your backtalk pushed her over the brink. This blaming is often so subtle that all you know is that you thought you were wronged but now you feel guilty. You may find yourself telling her time and time, “I’m sorry” and not quite knowing what you are apologizing for. Your brother beats you and her response is to bemoan how uncivilized children are. Your boyfriend dumped you, but she can understand - after all, she herself has seen how difficult you are to love. She’ll do something egregiously exploitative to you, and when confronted will screech at you that she can’t believe you were so selfish as to upset her over such a trivial thing. She’ll also blame you for your reaction to her selfish, cruel and exploitative behavior. She can’t believe you are so petty, so small, and so childish as to object to her giving your favorite dress to her friend. She thought you would be happy to let her do something nice for someone else.

Narcissists are masters of multitasking as this example shows. Simultaneously your narcissistic mother is 1) Lying. She knows what she did was wrong and she knows your reaction is reasonable. 2) Manipulating. She’s making you look like the bad guy for objecting to her cruelties. 3) Being selfish. She doesn’t mind making you feel horrible as long as she gets her own way. 4) Blaming. She did something wrong, but it’s all your fault. 5) Projecting. Her petty, small and childish behavior has become yours. 6) Putting on a self-pitying drama. She’s a martyr who believed the best of you, and you’ve let her down, again. 7) Parentifying. You’re responsible for her feelings, she has no responsibility for yours.

24. She destroys your relationships. Narcissistic mothers are like tornadoes: wherever they touch down families are torn apart and wounds are inflicted. Unless the father has control over the narcissist (which is nearly impossible) and holds the family together, adult siblings in families with narcissistic mothers characteristically have painful relationships. Typically all communication between siblings is superficial and driven by duty, or they may never talk to each other at all. In part, these women foster dissension between their children because they enjoy the control it gives them. If those children don’t communicate except through the mother, she can decide what everyone hears. Narcissists also love the excitement and drama they create by interfering in their children’s lives. Watching people’s lives explode is better than soap operas, especially when you don’t have any empathy for their misery.

The narcissist nurtures anger, contempt and envy - the most corrosive emotions - to drive her children apart. While her children are still living at home, any child who stands up to the narcissist guarantees punishment for the rest. In her zest for revenge, the narcissist purposefully turns the siblings’ anger on the dissenter by including everyone in her retaliation. (“I can see that nobody here loves me! Well I’ll just take these Christmas presents back to the store. None of you would want anything I got you anyway!”) The other children, long trained by the narcissist to give in, are furious with the trouble making child, instead of with the narcissist who actually deserves their anger.

The narcissist also uses favoritism and gossip to poison her children’s relationships. The scapegoat sees the mother as a creature of caprice and cruelty. As is typical of the privileged, the golden child doesn’t see her unfairness and she/he excuses her abuses. Indeed, they are often recruited by the narcissist to adopt her contemptuous and entitled attitude towards the scapegoat and with her tacit or explicit permission, will inflict further abuse. The scapegoat predictably responds with fury and equal contempt – or is so beat down that she acquiesces and goes silently inward. After her children move on with adult lives, the narcissist makes sure to keep each apprised of the doings of the others, passing on the most discreditable and juicy gossip (as always, disguised as “concern”) about the other children, again, in a way that engenders contempt rather than compassion.

Having been raised by a narcissist, her children are predisposed to be envious, and she takes full advantage of the opportunity that presents. She may never praise you to your face, but she will likely crow about your victories to the very sibling who is not doing well. She’ll tell you about the generosity she displayed towards that child, leaving you wondering why you got left out and irrationally angry at the favored child rather than at the narcissist who told you about it. She may tell you of gifts she’s given to the golden child, or lunches they’ve had together, or trips they’ve taken, always in glowing terms, intended to make you, the scapegoat, feel confused or less-then by comparison.

The end result is a family in which almost all communication is triangular. The narcissist, the spider in the middle of the family web, sensitively monitors all the children for information she can use to retain her unchallenged control over the family. She then passes that on to the others, creating the resentments that prevent them from communicating directly and freely with each other. The result is that the only communication between the children is through the narcissist, exactly the way she wants it.

25. As a last resort she goes pathetic. When she’s confronted with unavoidable consequences for her own bad behavior, including your anger, she will melt into a soggy puddle of weepy helplessness. It’s all her fault. She can’t do anything right. She feels so bad. What she doesn’t do: own the responsibility for her bad conduct and make it right. Instead, as always, it’s all about her, and her helpless self-pitying weepiness dumps the responsibility for her consequences AND for her unhappiness about it on you. As so often with narcissists, it is also a manipulative behavior. If you fail to excuse her bad behavior and make her feel better, YOU are the bad person for being cold, heartless and unfeeling when your poor mother feels so awful.

The Beginning Of The End, Written In '05, "Unmasked!"

For the first time in my life my mother now knows that I remember. Life is so strange and the events that take place throughout our lives are the very experiences that mold us into who we end up being. How is it I could be born and raised in an environment that was so destructive and actually manage to come out on the other side? I have never felt safe from them, I have always been on guard, and worried somehow they would find a chink in my armor and pierce my soul. I have lived a defensive life, never trusting or believing that I could be any different from that. Today is such a breath of fresh air, now they know, I was there and I remember.

I spoke to my mother and stepfather, Hugh last March. I knew that the deal on the building was closing soon and they would be coming into a tremendous amount of money, approximately 4.1 million dollars. In the past whenever money showed up all hell would break loose, my older sister would show up magically from somewhere back east, claiming she was owed. My older brother would be at her heels with the same type of claim. My mother and Hugh would become these aloof people that I no longer knew and my little sister and brother would ride all the waves that all the craziness provided. This type of behavior would usually happen over a couple of hundred thousand dollars or so, I could only imagine what would happen with a few million.

I decided to sit down with Melba and Hugh, tell them how I felt, cross my fingers and hope that for the first time in my life it could be different. We all went into the drawing room and it turned out that my oldest two daughters were also with us. I thought about asking them to leave, but then decided that this would be my final plea, it might not be a bad idea to have them present. I also knew that with my oldest children present, Melba and Hugh would watch there P’s and Q’s. For an hour and a half I spoke to them, confiding in them with the worries that I had and how destructive all this behavior had been in the past. Of course, Melba was acting as if she had no idea what I was talking about, but Hugh was different, he was intently listening to me. I had never seen this behavior before and held some hope that I was actually getting through.

He was asking questions like, "Which time are you speaking of?" He is British, hence the pretentious way that he speaks. "What exactly happened?" "What do you think your sister wanted?" "How do you know that they will both show up again?" "What do you think they are owed?" "What do you remember about that situation?" "You remember when your father took you on visitation and bought himself sandals that Tammy had just picked out and wanted for herself?"

As he would interrupt periodically with a different inquiry I began to figure out that these questions were not out of concern on how to keep it from happening again. These were probing questions. My mother of course babbling away with her banter of nonsense on how none of her children have ever loved her seemed to be the back ground noise to all of this. She went on to say that all she wanted was to worship Jesus and preach the word of God. I watched both of there faces trying to see if my message was getting through. I told them that I would not go through the family drama of who is owed what and why. I would not put myself through the phones calls of my mother screaming about how her children hate her and how the Placek’s have such bad genes. Or about how much she has done for Tammy, Eddie and Karen, how Sarah and Philip have given up there inheritance for the older three, I was not going to watch all the hurt faces as each of her children was used to beat up the other one.

"Mom I am not taking this roller coaster ride with you again."

 I proclaimed!

"At the first site that insanity on your part I will turn and walk away."

 I said.

"What are you taking about?"

my mother said and Hugh screamed,

"WOMAN, SHUT UP! AND LET HER SPEAK,"

the anger he expressed shook my core. This moment made me gasp, for I was witnessing an interaction that was all to familiar. An interaction between two of the most sick, demented, selfish people I knew. I became instantly ill. My stomach twisted into knots and I froze. I was instantly thrown back in time, but now I had the experience of life following me there, this was not a simple interruption between two parents, one chastising the other for not allowing the child to speak. This was Fore Play! Sensuality seeped from my mothers every pore. She dripped with anticipation as she turned to Hugh. It was only for a moment, but in that moment my life flashed through my head, I gulped. I looked at my two girls who had not noticed what had just happened and said,

"Come on, that’s enough, lets go."

I walked out of the drawing room, we all grabbed our jackets in the front hall and headed to the door. As I turned to say goodbye I realized nothing would ever change with them, what I did not realize at the time was everything would be changing for me.

The next time that I saw them would prove to be the last time that I would hold my tongue. Until now I have not mentioned much about my childhood to them. I saw what they did to my older sister and brother. Realizing at an early age that silence was indeed golden.

Looking back I believe that they had begun to revel in the fact that they had been able to get away with the evil deeds they had done. Their cult members had either died, run away, never to be heard from, or committed suicide. Gosh, that is tough to write down. I always want to cry when I think of that, could I have done something, I was a kid when I watched all these horrors being committed.

As an adult I have struggled to piece it all together and as my puzzle seems to outline what happened I realize that I am fortunate to have survived. The story that I am about to share with you is true and an honest account of my life. I can do something now, I can tell you what happened, by writing this down on paper I can make it real. This will make the lives that have been lost worth something. They are not the horrible sinners my mother claims them to be, they did not have demons possess their souls, the devil did not make them turn away from her, they were only people that had been filled with horrible grief, depression and guilt. My mother killed their souls, destroyed their minds and crushed their hearts, they were only human and there in lies her monopoly on their lives.

Melba had called on the phone off and on since Easter, but I did not answer the phone or return her phone calls. Her messages were as usual, completely bonkers.  It would be impossible for me to even tell you what she said. Melba will leave you a very long message and after you listen to the entire thing you will have absolutely no idea of what she said or why she called. The tone of her voice always gives away what mood she is in. Mostly she is pissed off and looking for someone to be angry at. Well in good form she continued with her phone calls and began to expand them my two oldest children's cell phones. As Christmas 2005 drew near she began to call more random people, of course I only know this because they called me to see if I was all right. To date she has called my ex-husband of seven years, his mother and my girlfriend in the city. I thought that as the new year approached she would stop her random calls and get on with other stuff. The phone calls kept coming. To my home phone, my cell phone, Katy’s cell phone and Becky’s cell phone.

I was about to drive Becky back to U.C.Berkeley and I decided that this would be a day to call Melba Meakin, my mother and tell her that the girls are starting back to school and they did not need the distraction of her phone calls. While we were on the phone she spoke to me as if no time had passed (we had not spoken for an enormous amount of time) and nothing out of the ordinary had happened, I always laugh to myself, wondering how long she can maintain such a façade. About two minutes into the conversation it began, I will tell the jist of it. I told her to stop calling and leaving random messages about what had happened this past summer, my children needed to concentrate on school.

She said,

"I forgive them,"

I said,

"There is nothing to forgive, you kicked them out of the house, threw there stuff in garbage sacks, changed the locks,"

she interrupts,

"I have a call, can you hold on,"

I spouted,

"No, if this is not important enough to stay on the line with me then there is nothing further to say."

She clicked off. Please try and understand that while this conversation is taking place I can hear Hugh’s voice in the background yelling,

"Get off the phone Melba, phone Melba, get off."

I did not stay on the phone I hung up and that was that.

A couple of days later I decided that I needed to call and tell her once more not to call the girls, I did not feel she truly understood me the first time. I did this because just that morning she had left a message on Katy’s cell phone about liberating her jaw and calling her immediately. I called her on her cell phone,

"Mom you have to stop calling the girls and leaving messages about liberating their jaws."

She says,

"Are you monitoring their phone calls,"

I said,

"Only when you leave repeated insane messages and they call me to tell me you called yet again."

I went on to say,

"Telling the girls that they have not told me the entire story and other such references to this past summer, this has to stop. The point is that Sarah and Philip took my 18-year-old daughter to bars and that is wrong."

 She interrupts and says,

"They (my sister, Sarah and my brother, Philip)are weak minded and were influenced by Becky’s (my oldest daughter) overwhelming desire to go."

I replied,

"They are grown adults that should have known better, they are my sister and brother, they know how I feel about that type of behavior and they did it anyway."

She interrupts again,

"Well, you took your babies to a bar the last time your sister was here."

 I said,

"So that’s the way you want to play Mom? I can top that one. When I was a little girl you took me to Swinger Parties!"

She began to scream and  Hugh pulled the phone away from her and right before I heard the phone go click, she was screaming,

"I will never get rid of the Placek’s."

This was the first time in my entire life I ever said anything about my childhood to her. For the first time in my life she did not call me back again and again. It was silent.  Not a normal response for her at all. Normally she would call and call yelling and screaming each time about how persecuted she has been and then it would turn into a sarcastic apology generally on the twentieth phone call. This would all be in the same day. But this was so different, she was silent, her screams were the last thing that I heard until I received this email,

Dearest Karen:

It was so good to hear your voice and your New Year

Greetings over the phone.

To follow up on our (first) phone communication, Becky

and Katy were referred back to their mother, because,

at that time, the “in loco parentis” strength from

their grandparents, and from their aunt and uncle, in

San Francisco was not sufficient for their needs

and/or requests. Furthermore, Becky’s beau was

graciously invited to her grandparents’ home for

hospitality, which was apparently rejected out of

hand.

We are convinced that our conversation in the whole

matter was with wholesome compassion for our

grandchildren, with utmost respect for their

consciences, and in sacred honor of their own parents’

training.

In addendum to this morning’s phone call, I quote from

95 year old Kitty Carlisle Hart (Page E3, SF

Chronicle): “ (I have) no time to devote to being

irritable or unhappy. Time is moving fast”.

It appears you have been obtaining incorrect

information from unreliable or “half-truth” sources; I

base this on certain things you have been saying

recently to me (and apparently to others as well).

Love,

Mom.

I sent this email to my mother just before or just after I recieved the above email from her.  I cannot quite remember without having all my notes in front of me.

I was there and know exactly what you did to those around you. You do not do the things you do for your children out of the goodness of your heart, you do them out of guilt for what you have done to them. I was there when you made Davy eat his vomit and carry the rest of it around in a bucket. I was there when you physically attacked Tammy during a church/cult service, where you had all of those people, Jim, Royce, Steven and the rest of them, jump on top of my sister and physically slam her to the ground and start casting demons from her. I was there when you took a pot of boiling water off the stove and threw it onto my brother. I was there when you lit matches under Eddie's pants at the dining room table while Hugh held him down in the chair. I was there when you performed an exorcism on my brother. I was there when car keys were dropped into the fish bowl at the door. I know why Eddie calls Hugh a Faggot. I know why you have no Christian symbols in your house, I can go on and on, I have read my pediatric records I could fill a book with the events of my childhood. I was there.

Written In 2001. I Wish......

A path that has never made itself clear to me has determined my whole life. As an adult I have been consumed by taking care of my children. On this day, when all of my children are gone, I miss them. It is confusing, lonely and my life is thrown off track. My children are the best little people on earth. Confident intelligent, attractive, well spoken. I miss them so much. My loneliness is painful, I can taste it. As I gaze at the photographs, my heart is torn to pieces. The ache of not having all of my offspring near me is a pain that I cannot describe. It does not matter how far they go, I carry each of them with me.

I know that what I believe and trust in will watch over my children with a very special eye. An eye that is specially reserved for those who are not so easily swayed by worldly beliefs and religions. I believe my children hold inside of them the key to open any door that they wish to explore. It is a key kept in a safe place, a key for peace and a key for satisfaction. A nonjudgmental spot for me and for them. They will take destiny and change it to what they desire. If I would wish anything for my children, I would wish for them to know happiness and that they will never experience loneliness.

For The Sake Of Clarity

The letters that I posted yesterday were rough drafts and I never did anything with them.  If they have mistakes, be it spelling or grammatical, I apologize.  I never did edit either one of them and I have only read them once or twice myself.  I had no intention of sending them so I left them as they were when I wrote them. I shared them because of my experiences with other people. I thought that it was awful that I was told a demon had spoken through me to write them and I found that I have finally had enough of the judgement that seems to come my way so readily from others.  I do not believe myself to be demonic, but, if I am, then so be it.  It is Gods will and I accept my lot in life.

I would just like to say to Sarah that your repeated comments to me over the years have finally disturbed me enough to speak on the subject.  To say to your sister as she enters a room each time, "Look the spawn of Satan has arrived," is devious and full of malice.  I find that you have adopted the ways of our mother for reasons I do not know because if the rolls were reversed with you and I you may find that what you have said is hurtful and cruel.  I pity you and I hope that you find peace in your life so that you do not have to take out on others the maliciousness you must feel towards yourself. You have taken the responsibility of being an Aunt to my children and flushed it down the toilet.  You are responsible for taking them out drinking before they have even reached the age of 21 years old.  That is blatant disregard for the welfare of a minor.  You were and are wrong to have done this with any one of my children.  I hope that someone besides myself holds you responsible for the corruption of a child. You were not only there senior but their direct blood relation.  To encourage such behavior in a minor is reprehensible and you should be held to task for such a disgraceful act. Shame on you for doing such a thing and shame on you for what you have said to me in the presence of all my children for so many years.  You have damaged them for no reason other than to say what you please, when you please.  I do not believe that I am the Spawn of Satan, but maybe out of the mouth confession was made about yourself.  Evil runs in families, families like ours.  This has become a very sad state of affairs for everyone concerned. I am sorry for you and sadden by all of your actions towards my four children.

Actually,It Is A Little Scary To Think..............

I went to a local church and after only three visits I was told that I was having a demon speak through me.  I did not realize that I had gone to an Evangelical Ministry.  The name on the outside was innocent enough and I thought the church itself was very cute with its steeple.  It reminded me of my Grandparents which spurred the adventure in the first place.  I thought that I would face my fears of my past and all of the religious abuse.

I had an interesting talk with a person that believes in the power of casting out demons.  In fact he wrote a "How to" book.

It was given to me to read and so I did.  I found it interesting that his experience for such a thing did not come from studying on the subject at a Seminary, but rather the hands on approach during something called "The Jesus Movement."  Oddly enough this movement took place in the late sixties finally dying out in the early eighties, as per Wikipedia.  Not knowing that it was also the "Jesus Freaks" I stayed and talked to he and his wife.

I in turn gave him a letter to read that I had written for my mother five years ago.  I explained it is actually two letters that I just put together.  He said that he would read it and we would talk again.

I returned for the third time for a mid-week meeting.  At the end of the meeting I asked him what he thought of what I had written.  I told him that I worry sometimes because people have told me that I am evil and it really bothers me.  I went on to say that I was very angry when I originally wrote the letter but I did not feel that it was at all satanic or demonic.  He looked at me and told me, "There is not a mind from this earth that could have written such a thing."  I said "Excuse me?"  He said, "That nobody could have written this letter that is from Earth."  He went on to say that his wife had read it also and agreed with him.  She asked, "Have you given this to your mother yet?"  I told her that I had not because it seemed kind of stupid because it was so out there and I sort of laughed, they did not share my humor.  So I asked, "What are you trying to say? Who are you saying wrote this? You know I wrote this."  He said, "It is a demon inside of you speaking."  I stopped and stared.  I said nothing and I began to leave.  He said, "We have to go right now and cannot speak anymore of this but if you come back then on Sunday night we will pray for you."  I didn't  say anything, I barely acknowledged what he had said to me.  I just went back home.  My feelings were terribly hurt.

My next visit to my shrink I told him what had happened and he was rather disgusted.  He said that the next time we met we would begin to go over this letter together.  Last Thursday at is office in the city, we went sentence by sentence and I had the most fun I have had in absolutely forever.  Although I found that I was being embarrassed again and again by him.  He would read one sentence and say,"This is brilliant, you are absolutely amazing."  I don't think that I have ever had that many compliments in my entire life, let alone in an hours time, it was really fun.  He said that he was really enjoying himself as well.  We only were able to get through three pages of the letter before he marked the page in the book I had given him saying, "We will stop here and keep going next week, I think that this is really helping you."  It was.

I have not been back to that church and I have no intention of saying anything to the Pastor and his wife.  It is sad to think that in just three meetings with a stranger that a minister of the bible would condemn you so harshly by saying that you are essentially being demonized.  That could strike such fear into some people and they may be sucked into such a congregation that way.  I pity people of such beliefs and I am sorry that a Pastor of a church is so full of himself he feels liberated enough to cast such opinions onto a virtual stranger that is just visiting his ministry for some well needed support in their life.

I believe that my psychiatrist is a dear man and his insight has been wonderful.  He has healed me from thinking that what I have written is just stupid.  He thinks that I am a brilliant writer.  I love it! Someone likes what I have to say and how I have to say it. I am going to post the letter here for you to read, as I am sure you may be curious as to why a Pastor would say such a heinous thing to me.  I did try to explain to the Pastor and his wife that this was the way they spoke to me growing up.

I will separate the two letters for you.  Understand that I wrote the first letter, read it and said to myself "This is stupid I can't send this dumb letter, nobody will understand it."  I tried again with the same result, so I quit, never sending anything to my mother at all.  I just left it where it was between the two us.  I kept the letters because I thought they were really good and said everything perfectly, if you can understand something written a century or two ago, LOL.  Kilgore told me, "There is really good works written from that era."  I laughed and so did he, with an approving nod over my letter.

It was very cruel what this Pastor said to me.  I am from this world and I did write this in good faith.  To say that a mind from this World could not have written this hurt me in a tremendous manner.  It is as if he is saying that I am an idiot.  I grew up feeling like this and was treated with the same type of cruelty when I tried to write anything.  I was always run down and treated like I was a stupid.  It became frustrating and I was careful not to write much of anything.  As you read these two letters, please understand that they used terms like "Laws of the Jungle," "Divine Laws," "Eternal Rights," "Law and Order," "Scapegoat," "Undivided attention," "Powers to be," "Natural Laws," and other such terms all the time in daily conversation.  I did not think that I would be judged so harshly by others when I had shared these two letters with the few people that I  have let read them. The reaction of horror and insults came from them saying that I must be insane to use the words that I have chosen to use in expressing my rage and that what I have written makes no sense at all. I feel so much better that Dr. Kilgore seems to differ in his opinion, he said that it made a lot of sense. I wish you had been in our last session, it was so funny listening to somebody read this crazy letter to me and pay me compliments on how I chose to express myself, saying that it was amazing.

Warning! It is extremely complex or thick in its nature, I am not sure how to prepare you for such a thing, it is certainly not something that you read everyday. It did start out, "Dear Mom," but I left that part off, it looked stupid. You'll see what I mean in just a minute.

{This is exactly what I gave the Pastor of that church to read.  I thought you were meant to go to church to be cared for and understood, regardless.  Not condemned and judged for something like this.  I am officially done with the church thing.  I think Christians are self-proclaimed idiots. My Letter. "Dear Mother,"
Rough drafts, never sent.

I am the white flame of the fire, which burns the color of purity. I pay homage to the miracle of my creation. My development and freedom from hypocrisy has been celebrated and witnessed. I have played a slow, even tempo, which has been ideal for guiding, leading and revealing the path that I have followed for my life. My trust in the unknown has been rewarded to me, by becoming the known. I understand the Laws of the Divine. The gifts that have been bestowed upon me are priceless and without measure. My Key has been revealed, I have unlocked my door, I have found Forgiveness my lesson and I revel in the Peace of Understanding.

I forgive all your wrongdoings and intolerance; I am now impartial, impersonal, and detached from all of your emotions. I surrender and I am drawing to a close, your selfishness, ugliness and lack of compassion, which has been so offensive to me. The Divine plan requires me to have faith and live on higher ground. I will testify to the wisdom of Spiritual Law. I am now conscience of the needs of humankind. By choosing to live with a higher purpose, my talents will allow me to bring this together with completion and no allowance for interpretation. I am a living testimony; it does not matter what my adversaries have done to annihilate my very existence and survival. My anchor for self-preservation has transformed the horrid memories and visions of the tortuous, manipulative abuse of power and influence over unsuspecting lives, both known and unknown, into a positive reaction that evoked forgiveness, not resentment. My sensitivity, perception, and innate ability to listen to a Higher Guidance will ensure the integrity of the message remains intact. My vision of this message will be delivered with planning and the execution of a master swordsman. The principles, ideals and wisdom of this message will focus the minds, which choose to release their compulsions and evoke their eternal right for peace, understanding and opportunities for positive growth.

Creation welcomed me at my conception, a child of Joy and Sweetness, a delightful daughter, full of the most Natural and True abilities. I have kindled the flame that ignited within me. My unusual amount of self-understanding and the ability to see through the emotional and physical barrage of attacks, created as diversions, had no power or ability to hide, mask or erase the truth. I have had to be wise beyond my years, my honesty entitled me to have dominion over the world, which is filled with frightened, cowering, roaming lives. I have delved in to my childhood, I am no longer filled with terror. Anger is not needed to preserve myself from attack. My eyes received enlightenment, my ears perceived the truth, I have separated the entangled web of your deceit. I have found my bottom, my place, and it is clean, strong and ready to sustain the weight of the building, which shall be my life. I embrace my heritage; I found this etched on my soul. Creation has clothed me in substance, sustained me, blessed me and ensured that no man foul my purity. My mind dwells in anticipation of the delightful tickle of the wisdom, which I have been graced.

I have been protected by the very power that awakened you, to the joy of your re-birth. At your birth the gates flew open and you entered into a celebration that freed your conscious mind. Your relentless pursuit of those who failed to see your delight and awaken to your invitation, a gift that you would bestow, ended. This has delivered despair and agony to your door. You have only begun to realize that the brilliant enlightenment and uplifting satisfaction you desired has been the imagination of your life. You have walked amongst those which you despise and bear deceit for their beings. The beauty in your mind and body shall perish in blindness and despair.

You did not seek the knowledge of those that know. You did not listen to those that spoke the words. Nor, did you respect the Laws of the Land. Creation is our Mother; we are all invited to revel in the warmth and we to one another. Each and every one of us that has accepted her gift has received a pact of everlasting devotion. You did not heed Creation, instead you wrapped yourself in a cloak of self. Filled with secrets and with your unyielding loyalty to your deceiving warmth, you turned away from your Self and Natural Laws. Although you break the Laws of the Land, the Laws with an even tighter grip bind you. You have raised your right hand, given an oath, receiving all that which that oath has entitled. You swore mindlessness; you went out amongst the world and shouted your acclaim. You have discarded yourself and willingly choose Pleasure and Pain to exist. You choose your death with your oath and accepted life. You received and embraced enlightenment. You did this of your own accord, without cause for any other that yourself. You were not coerced, nor were you tricked, your ambition for desire, signed and sealed your Fate.

Creation filled me with the physical, mental and emotional instincts to ensure my self-preservation while under your watch. My Anger was aroused when you turned your Ambition on to me, with the oath as your guide; you brought a full on attack to my Heart, my Mind and my Soul. My Anger protected me from your relentless attempts to destroy that which Creation had been so kind to deliver to me. My recognition that my Anger had been aroused to protect me in an effort of self-preservation, allowed me to release my anger, let go of the very emotion that I held for so long and I held with a death grip. I am free of the terrors and no longer need to arouse the emotion that has had to be so diligent and readily available to call upon in my life.

However, the wrong cannot go without being addressed, even in defeat, Honor is dangerous but must be carried out, for this is the honorable thing to do. You choose a path to save Righteousness based on your Natural Instincts. You joined your Spiritual and Carnal Natures, watched while they merged with one another. You did this so that you would achieve greater enlightenment. To your Horror and in your self-deceit, with ambition as an instinct for self-preservation, you discovered that you, yourself, are only Carnal and you always were. You either had to hate yourself to death or revel and rejoice in exactly what you are. The feeble attempts you made to scourge yourself, were never more than reprieves you enjoyed while willingly accepting and recognizing the importance of sustaining faith in a lie. Then you had to rationalize sustaining faith in the truth. This is a primitive thought; this did not spur awareness into your mind, nor did this ignorant, pathetic process, which you willingly submitted yourself, bring, or add any substance to your being. Your faith in lies has diminished, the brilliant, blinding flame you once reveled in the glory of, it has lost its ability to breath and burns black with the impurities of mind and soul. The gradual decline, over the true test “Time” has enabled all who have protected my purity and innocence to reveal to me the understanding, wisdom, forgiveness and compassion in which to honor you.

Creation does not need an invention, audience, or court from mankind to invoke Natural Law, nor does she judge or punish by-proxy. This is not the time to spur “Hope” and “Prayer” for your redemption, these are simply indicative of the apprehension and fear inside yourself. Creation has based her judgment and therein punishment on the Action and Reaction of the choice’s you have made. There will be no Middle Ground found in this scenario, for middle ground is just another term you commonly here, called “FATE”. You have sealed your Fate with the action of your very instinct for self-preservation, your Ambition.

You have confessed to me your inabilities and sins against the Natural Laws of Motherhood. To clear your conscience and free yourself to break the laws and terrorize me yet again, you just continue the attack. You have committed wrongs and in this testimony of yours would mean that your genuine acknowledgement to me that you had made a mistake would have had to mean that you were truly sorry about what you had done. This would have taught you lessons along the way and you would have taken care not to do it again. Instead, you have not been honestly sorry about anything and acknowledged to yourself you would continue again and again to terrorize me. You had no business confessing and asking forgiveness in the first place. Your own lack of consistency in this matter has revealed your hidden agenda. Your scorn for my very existence and continued life has you consumed with animosity, which must be released on me from you daily. Your disguise of prayer or praying for me has only been nothing more than a bargain-basement anger that is decidedly shoddy and inferior in quality. Your own admission on a daily basis of you having to “pray for your enemies” provides total confirmation and true meaning to this ignorant backwards thought.

God is all-powerful and in turn all forgiving, your faith and belief that all transgressions here on earth will be forgiven, the Devine power of such a blessing lies in his hands not yours. Therefore you have reveled in your own iniquities, love of self and allegiance to your oath of enlightenment, with no regard. However, your belief that forgiveness will be at hand when you call, and the oath of contradiction blinded you with hypocritical self-deceit, this is why you have never achieved peace of mind. Every being or entity, good or evil has a job, you assumed in your ignorance that this loophole freed you and in reality it not only bound you but also consumed your very being. God is all-powerful and will forgive the transgressions of those that sin knowingly. However, you should have been aware of the power of Creation, herself, the Mother to us all. She employs the power to give us the strength to pull the heavens down and from the crumbling remains use their shards to build an idol or erect a monument to satisfy our own Devine indulgence, defining our true nobility for thought and action. To employ such abandoned power for strength and choice, she must balance the Core of Creation with the wisdom and freedom from the perception of right and wrong, good and evil applying to her actions and therefore the reaction, which brings an End to a Means. God being the creator of all; God recognized his compassion towards the weakness of man this would prove to be their own destruction, ending in extinction. Being Just and Fair, God employed Creation to ensure that his compassion was felt by mankind but did not stop the progression of Creation by accepting inadequacies that mankind created as a result of their own compulsions. God did not want to stand in the way of the Natural Extinction of an infested soul and mind that succumbed to Carnal Desire without regard or consequence to their actions. Your enlightenment to yourself and desires were fool hardy when measured against the All-Knowing, All-Powerful God of Heavens, Earth, all that has been and all that will be for eternity.

I am speaking in tongues that require no translation to be understood. I have not called upon the “Powers to Be” to invoke the protection or justification of the meaning and implications of this message. Creation herself delivered me to you, she encompassed my mind, heart, soul and my very being with spiritual gifts to make me highly sensitive to intuition and the extrasensory perception to know the world of higher guidance. My core has been filled and comforted since the day of my birth with the celestial beings she sent to care and protect me from the realities of life and all that would encompass my ability to deliver this message of Spiritual Law. She provided the balance needed to survive in this world of violence, negativity, materialism and personal gratification. Knowing the journey would be taxing emotionally, mentally, and physically, she instilled the fire and solemnized her gift by etching the design of the fuel onto my soul ,I must filter and fine-tune myself in order to remember my origin. By design, I elevated my consciousness toward living with a spiritual awareness. The heightened state of awareness made it very difficult to accept the surroundings of my youth. My pioneering spirit has driven me with absolute determination to find the truth. The journey has been a fine line between survival and self-destruction. The acceptance of my gifts for intuitive understanding and spiritual truths, delivered the ability to grow and find stability. I have learned to live with faith. My peace was made with myself and my gratitude will be everlasting.

This is my second attempt at a letter to my mother, it didn't work out any better than the first one.  It is as if they crippled me with my verse.  I quit the entire campaign of trying to communicate with her after I wrote this letter.  It was fruitless to try again.  I felt as if I would never get my point across.

Shame on you.

You are my mother, but from here on out I will call you out by any name of your own choosing. You are full to the brim of hypocritical self-deceit. Your conscience acknowledgement of your own self-proclaimed mastery of all that you have become is the epitome of an ignoramus. Your oath to yourself and gifts bestowed upon yourself are the actual design in the manifestation of death by-proxy and the inevitable extinction of your very being. Your everyday statement of announcing to me that I came from “Bad Genes” is in itself, your own proclamation from your own body, mind and soul. This is your cell structure, which you have spoken of all these years. “Out of the mouth confession is made”.

Your very core has insured, by-proxy, that which your spirit, mind, soul and body of your own self gratification, ugliness, lack of compassion, materialism, ambition to elevate yourself at the spiritual and financial cost of any being available to your beckoning, this will cease and desist. You are that which you have called others. Your cosmic phone has been cut off. You were billed and scoffed at the arrival of its price. This action has been an announcement to all; your ignorance in this matter is to be pitied. You have shown that pity is for the weak minded and those without moral conviction of spiritual law.

Your youth has been erased, happiness has become an illusion, pain is the only way you know and you are still here. The shell you are, is void of life, filled with emptiness, confused by imagination and not yet conscience that by your own design you created that which you abhor.

Your measurement of love, knowledge, understanding, wisdom and generosity has set the limits of that which is limitless, priceless and without measure. That which you embraced in yourself fouls you.

Shame on you!

The one’s you choose to “love” will deliver the greatest gift to you. In return for your training, dedication and living example of glorifying, “the one and only”, the debt that they owe you, will be paid with delightful, guiltless abandoned joy and freedom of will. This is all voluntary. They will not even have to divorce themselves from hypocritical self-deceit. The ones you have chosen to “measure” your “love”, and bestow that which you have accumulated through means of the unnamed. They will do exactly as they have been trained and charged in life, they will execute that which you have done.

Your success is their guide, their patience has been your measure, your ambition is their alarm clock, and the bell has begun to toll.

The respect that death invokes, the respect that would hold at bay the greed that waits, has bared witness to your impatience. Your robbery in this course of action has been noted; you have manipulated all, to receive inheritance’s that had rightful heirs. You have reveled in the design of greed under the pretense of ambition.

Shame on you!

Listen to these words, for the ones you have chosen to “love” will discount and dismiss my message.

There, in those voices, from the ones you found deserving to bestow yourself, which is the moment you will be smashed with undefiled wisdom. For now their indulgence will manifest itself to you, as their ambition will not be abstinent. You taught them well “Blessed are the powerful, they will be revered among the world, cursed are the feeble, old, sick, weak-minded, powerless, dying, for their time is measured and should be blotted out”.

You have paved the path; you will be at the very hand of those you indulged with life. By the means you taught them well, and they know death is the great abstinence. This in known to all as a “Dog eat dog”. Recognize their actions, intentions and words to you, for they are yours.

I will honor your memory by going out into the world and I will bear witness to all. “Love” has no measure, the more you willingly give, and the return for such a priceless gift shall be tenfold.

You have indulged and rejected abstinence with ingrates. These are the teachings of your past. But, you did not listen; it was indulgence, not compulsion. You are engulfed in the stagnant morass of yourself. The reverses that have beset you are no longer under your dominion and they will be unending from this time forth. Those you have chosen to measure your “love” no longer cherish you.

The pleasures you indulged will flow into anguish, as the fire in your marrow is rendered powerless. You are devoid of substance. Your ambition to marry Spiritual Nature with the Carnal Nature left you in a loveless marriage of an Ambitious Nature. Spiritual Law required you to divorce and to your horror, you were Carnal in the merge, always were, always will be. Do not fool yourself; your last days on earth are upon you. You have advertised and announced this message to the world. Your pride blinded you and your intellect did not reason, because the obvious was invisible. The gatherings I witnessed, as you blessed the Communion and Challis, filled with the Blood of the Lamb, this was your admission to your hidden agenda. This was an announcement of your half-truths. The Challis will be of any metal, but may not be gold. You praised that which you have become. You spoke “in tongue’s” praising his name. The pronunciation of your words sealed with your Hebrew lessons. The translation of such “tongue’s” you exalted did not belong to you, for that is sorcery. But you were not a Sorceress, only a mindless follower and you spoke in tongues that you memorized and full well new the translation, just as I do.

Shame on you!

May your days be full of that which you delivered unto others and with the power in which you convicted them. You have not abided by the Laws of the Land,

Spiritual Laws

Natural Laws

You are ruled and abide by the,

LAW OF THE JUNGLE.

Your lies and deceit built your throne. It will be assailed without pity, without regret, for under domination of a falsehood, no one can prosper. You enthroned a sanctified, privileged lie, a lie believed by everyone to be truth. That is the seed on the most dangerous delusion. A lie to be known as a half-truth, the lie that an intellectual person accepts as fact, the lie that has been inculcated upon me by you, this lie, your lie, is the most dangerous to contend against. Pestilence shall be your compulsion.

I, being of sound mind and body, I am now of the age of consent, accept the knowledge and wisdom bestowed upon my heart and soul. I release the anger, the anger that was an instinct for self-preservation against your relentless attacks. I forgive. I stand on the bedrock of this earth with true independence. Spiritual Law has risen in the midst of the web of entanglement that you spun as a disguise. I now name the one that shall not be named. He resides within you.

He silenced me as a child of joy and sweetness, a delightful daughter, full of natural and true abilities. Together “the named” and yourself have been Outed, Outed by the one you silenced with terror.

Shame on you!

I am free of hypocritical self-deceit. I embrace that which has been done to me and with the command of my Eternal Right, take dominion over diabolical indignation. With rationale, in the “eleventh hour”, sweeping aside pain, disappointment and resentment of the past. I restore Law & Order, Law of Harmony, Ministration and Peace. This is what shall reside here, from now until eternity. The double-edged sword which you have wheeled, no longer is yours to use but will remain as a symbol to you.

“The instinct for self-preservation is the driving force that is used for our own self-annihilation. This is the epitome of the double-edged sword.”

Buckling: You Know That Thing At The End Of A Belt

I just got born, almost torn.
To say the least,
I was not adorned.

They used to leave me
in the Hall or when I fall.

In between, they took this thing
putting it, buckling, snapping,
hurting me.

It kept there company clean.

But, buckling, they laid me in
so my feet would not do those things.

I just used to scream and scream.
Sensation!!! Frustration!!! Hitting!!!

I was not a bird,
not a duck,
not a dog who roughed it up.

Just a beast, who was teased.
I was the spawn of Satan see.

I often yawned,
when they came at me.

I used to tear, lie in fear,
I did not run away.

The buckles hurt, I often jerked
but where did they put my tears?

I cry somewhere,
often stare,
and say.......the rain comes for me.

Sing a little song,
not very long,
Tulips, tulips, we all fall down.

All in monotone rehearse.

Loneliness Kills

The one thing that I never wanted my children to experience is loneliness.  I don't know a life without it and now neither does my daughter.  Thanks to the actions of my mother, she has been able to perpetuate the one thing that is not just lasting but extremely painful as well.  She has furthered her Malignant Narcissistic behaviour at an expense that she cannot pay.  I celebrate the future knowing that this grip on our lives will be broken by the exposure of the maliciousness towards her flesh and blood.  I know that I do not want my children to commit suicide over this travesty.  I know that so many have done this because of my mother and step-father. My mind reels with the nightmares of what I have witnessed them do to other human beings with no regard.  I walked in on a person when I was very young that had her head in the oven following a horrible encounter with my mother.  This is a very real and dangerous reality of mine.  The fact that these type of monsters do not like to lose, worries me terribly.  They will attempt to win at any expense.

My mother and I are still at War with one another and have been since my early childhood.  I will never give in to a person that proclaims she is God.  I will never pay 10% of my income as tithes to my parents because they have informed me that they are my pastors.  I will not give in to their continued threats in my life.  I will stand, all be it alone.  I have done this for as long as I can remember and I continue to win this battle against this monster, I am alive.  I have the comfort of knowing that regardless of what may take place in our lives my children know love, compassion, peace and safety.  My children and I were unable to be separated until this monster of a mother, Melba Meakin invaded my life once again.  She accused me of writing a book and said that she would destroy me and my children for exposing her and ruining her reputation.  This was five years ago. There was no book that had been written by anyone.

This was paranoia of something that never happened.  It is just like when she hired the private investigators to hunt the ex-church members down to find out what they were saying about her.  I tried to contact a few of them several years ago and I was greeted with fright, saying, "Please don't tell your mother that you spoke to me or have my number."  The terror surrounding this situation is off the charts and is really not understood by the layman.  Being harassed and having your privacy invaded is earth shattering.  The concealed threats that I continue to receive are decidedly old.  Just as when I was a child being followed because they feared I would tell, I am now an adult knowing that old habits do not die hard but never die at all.

I made a promise that cannot be broken, nor can I waiver in my execution of such a matter.  My daughter is is in pain and I post again what I found on her facebook page.  It is not what I need to do, it is when I need to do it.  She is an incredible girl and I love her for sharing such a beautiful song with me.

NO! NO! NO!

I love this song, I will never forget anything.  Nor will I allow the constant gaslighting by Melba and Hugh Meakin to alter or bring into question the actual events of my life.

The song below was posted on my youngest daughters facebook page, along with what I have written.  If you have been following my blog than you understand that Melba Meakin is a woman that needs to be understood and then held accountable for her malace and lack of morality.

A restraining order that Melba and Hugh Meakin put on me two and a half years ago, precludes me from contacting my children while they are at the home in San Francisco.  To believe that my daughter is having to experience my family of monsters making her feel that she is unable to love or be compassionate, is the last straw for me.  I hope that people can read and understand how cowardly, cold  and ignorant my mother is in her Malignant Narcissistic response to what was written by my daughter and her cousin. This is how she responds to her Grandchildren in public.  Just imagine what happens behind the closed doors.  It is not a pleasant experience.  If you cannot see that there is trouble here than I pity you.

I have found out recently just as Upsi has discovered that my FOO is reading my blog.  I believe that the time for justice in this matter is close at hand.

Maybe someday someone will recognize that Malignant Narcissists get worse with age, not better. I was the one that was not loved, not my daughter. There are repercussions when you write anything down and monsters find it like she has.  The repercussions happens in the privacy of the home where they live. Are you aware of that?  What a brave girl to write her feelings down so publicly. Where I could find, read and respond with eloquence and exactness.  Especially after they threw her cousin out on the street to live at only 16 years old.

Putting an end to this insanity is what I continue to fight for each day.  I feel as if I am walking a thin line, I must name these monsters to protect the ones that are writing there feelings down.  At the same time I am aware of the screaming and blaming that takes place in their home following such a post.  Remembering that speaking out against abuse is the only way to stop the madness, I keep writing.

My children and I will recover. I will succeed in outing these monsters.  I will know justice in my life.

[Thank goodness for Facebook.  (I was just approved as a friend on my daughters page 10 or so days ago and I have not been able to speak to her in over a year.) Good job on communicating to me the reality so quickly and efficiently. Stand strong girls and keep on fighting for your lives.]

Written by my youngest daughter,

You know sometimes I dont think they realize I actully am capable of love and compassion.

Response by her cousin,

its not that you arent capable of that. it is that, THEY do not know what the fuck LOVE and COMPASSION is. that is the truth.

Response by my daughter,

haha, that is probably absoluetly true... !! Love ya kelssay

Response by my mother Melba Meakin,

Lauren, is there something I can help you with? Sounds like you've been misunderstood. As well, I'm so sorry to see language like the above comment, by Kelsey, used on your Facebook. Please let me know if I can help.

End Of The Pain

My mother, Melba Meakin and my step-father Hugh Meakin need to know that what they have done to me as a human being is not just wrong but heart wrenching.  You have taken a life and consciously destroyed it.  You have never been held to task for doing this to me until now.  Since I was a child I have been silent on this accord.  I will no longer silence myself because of the fear that you beat into me as a child.

I stand as the adult child of severe neglect and I protest to the laws that keep me from holding responsible the people that took my life from me for their own gain.  I will not falter in my campaign to speak for the innocent that are still under the rule of monsters.  Hear me World, Hear my Cry!!  You turned on me as a child, stand for me today and help me free my children from what has them in a prison of lies.

Gaslighting

Definition: To deliberately drive someone insane by psychologically manipulating their environment and tricking someone into believing that they are insane.

From Wikipedia:
Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse in which false information is presented to the victim with the intent of making them doubt their own memory and perception. It may simply be the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred, or it could be the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim.

The term derives from the 1938 stage play Gas Light, and the 1944 film adaption, in which a wife's concerns about the dimming of her house's gas lights are dismissed by her husband as the work of her imagination, when he has actually caused the lights to dim. His action is part of a wider pattern of deception in which the husband manipulates small elements of his wife's environment, and insists that she is mistaken or misremembering, hoping to drive her to insanity.

definition of gaslighting / definition of gaslight

by J. E. Brown

gaslighting:  A common form of brainwashing in which an abuser tries to falsely convince the victim that the victim is defective, for any purpose whatsoever, such as making the victim more pliable and easily controlled, or making the victim more emotional and therefore more needy and dependent. {You're reading "Definition of Gaslighting" by J. E. Brown.}

Often done by friends and family members, who claim (and may even believe) that they are trying to be helpful. The gaslighting abuser sees himself or herself as a nurturing parental figure in relation to the victim, and uses gaslighting as a means for keeping the victim in that relationship, perhaps as punishment for the victim's attempt to break out of the dependent role.
Example 1: If an abusive person says hurtful things and makes you cry, and then, instead of apologizing and taking responsibility, starts recommending treatments for what he or she calls "your depression" or "your mood swings," you are in the presence of a gaslighter.

Example 2: If someone insults you or criticizes you, and then pretends it was a joke and asks "Don't you have a sense of humor?", that's gaslighting.
Perception blaming is a common form of gaslighting, and a common technique for evading the consequences of one's actions. Example: "I'm sorry you perceived my words that way; it wasn't my intention." Translation: "You are perceptually defective. Everyone else in the world can read my mind; if you can't, there must be something wrong with you. Or so I'd like you to believe." Unspoken Message: "My intention should change your actions (even though it didn't change mine)." This presupposes the reasoning "Most people are judged for their actions; but *I* want to be judged for my unseen intentions." Roaring

I hope that you never suffer at the hands of a Malignant Narcissistic person. As an F.Y.I. they will never stop the attack on the offspring or the person that attacks back in silent repose.  However, I have developed the natural skills to defend myself. Nature has afforded me this small favor. We are not inept as the offspring of these monsters but rather have evolved in order to survive. We are the next generation, for better or for worse, nature has seen us through successfully. Just as evolution evolves over millions of years, we have progressed naturally in one generation in order to survive, not bad.  Do not dismiss us and do not deny us without reminding yourself first that we are the flesh and blood of monstrous creatures. Nature would not birth us to the very monster without preparing us to be the more intelligent and possibly the more deceitful of the two. This makes much more sense to me than thinking that we are incapable victims of our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters or step-parents. We are just horribly hurt. We can be wise in our actions before we too step forward with our own judgement on humanity. All be it skewed, it is not for lacking of trying to find and experience all the things that we are told collectively we are missing from ourselves. So while my peers enjoy a day at the beach or a pleasant vacation, I spend my days working through the reality that only a flashback can deliver to you in full. I am healing from the very real and abusive life that I have experienced. Not so I can go to the beach or on a vacation, never acknowledging the horrors of life. I am healing so that I can continue to move forward and move up the ladder of success to become the voice of the innocent. To expose to the public each and every person that never stops to do anything other than for themselves. If we are not here for any other reason than to pleasure our own selves with life, I then accept that gracefully, however I believe that people who think this thought are full of selfishness themselves.  What kind of judgement would you pass on them? I simply announce to whom may be interested, that the pleasure I get out of life is the free writing and the exposure of the person that is selfishly living the life of the lie. I enjoy telling you that I am excited today because I am still alive and did not have to think about the people that have committed suicide over my mother today. I enjoy telling you that I am pleased that I have survived so much and I really enjoy the fact that I can share the "Snuff" I experienced at a very young age that failed in its attempt to take my life.

I will or will not write a book about the terrors of my life, who knows and truthfully, who cares? By blatant disregard every person who reads or has heard my plea is responsible in this life to stop the pain and the strife caused by these monsters. I had one person tell me that I wrote a piece of poetry that has stuck in his head and caused him nightmares. He cannot get me off his mind. I write what comes to mind so that I can work out the anger and rage that I have towards the people that have harmed me and my children thus far. Why be silent anymore. The reason for silence is to protect the lives of others.  I have no one to protect anymore. It is now an open book. Destruction goes both ways in life. Some would say that by writing the wrongs committed against me or my children I am being destructive and vengeful. I don't feel this way, but I accept that opinion as fact. For I feel that lack of remorse, lack of pity, lack of compassion is more destructive to the daughter of a malignant narcissist than any other action can be ever. This is because it makes her mother right in the end. People are not worth your time, nor your care of their existence. When it is put so plainly, it must be like being kicked in the gut, but in truth you have no argument to stand by in this matter called WAR.

Undefined Reality, I Feel Exposed

The other day I met with somebody that I knew when I was eight years old.  She told me of this time that we had come back to my house and my step-father was there.  He grabbed me in front of her and took me into the other room where he beat me.  I was being beaten for getting "F's" on my report card from school, she said.

Three years ago I was in San Francisco eating breakfast at Louis out by Seal Rock with my step-father and mother.  My step-father felt compelled to tell me that he had never laid a hand on me.  I looked at him and asked him to repeat himself.  He said it again.  I just sat across the table and looked at him. My mother just sat there saying nothing.  It is odd that they would do this to me.  I know that he was trying to get a reaction out of me and I reacted more than I should have because my mother had that sinister smile on her face.  However, time bringing 20/20 to the situation, it shows to me that they have not forgotten at all what they have done to me as a couple.  In that I find a reason to celebrate as it concretes what I know has taken place in my life and now they are back tracking to cover themselves.  What troubles me and made me so angry at the time was the smile that my step-father had on his face as the words slipped through his lips and into the restaurant to be heard.  Almost as if he whispered the denial.

For some very strange reason my parents seem to believe that if they say that they have never done anything bad or even questionable, than whatever they are speaking on just did not happen at all.   Well now they will have to deal with the fact that people are coming forward to say things about what has happened to me as a child.  Telling me, "I witnessed........!"  I wonder if they will tell them that they are liars?

I am finding hope today.  I believe that if my family is compelled to deny the past so openly, than I must go with this simple thought. Something must have happened to even mention it in the first place. If nothing happened than why bother to bring it up.  I think that this is what they refer to as "Gas Lighting."

I am getting closer and closer to exposing the lie. One day they will make a big mistake by saying openly what they have said to me in closed company. Who knows maybe somebody at the restaurant overheard them and thought, "How odd."  It is inevitable to be caught by your own lies.  Eventually what has happened will come to light, I just know it.  Too many secrets, too many lies to keep it all straight.  Maybe there will be a day that while trying to improve their reputation they will be speaking to the right person, instead of a coward who tucks their tail between their legs and runs away in fright of what was shared.  The intimidation from them still amazes me.  I don't understand how people turn and walk away from people who are obviously unkind and a danger to society.

So far people from my past have been randomly showing up and telling me one or more of the following things on the list below.  I guess that is good thing.  However I feel that it is a little to late to confess to the one who suffered at the hands of these people her entire life. I am really tired of the secrecy that they seem to perpetuate by telling me what I already know and ensuring that it is being said behind closed doors yet again. I feel as if I am in the middle of a fight and its not mine.  I'm not sure if I should be grateful or not that they have come forward to express themselves. It is rather uncomfortable, especially when they say not to tell anyone that they told me (i.e., my parents.)  To see other people in fear of my parents is odd but I kind of enjoy it in a sick way.

What do you think that they think will happen to them?

" Oh! WAIT! I know, I know!"

They are worried my parents will go after them for outing what they have done to me.  That is how afraid people still are of my parents. They say that a Malignant Narcissist really doesn't hit full boar until you deny them their truth. If you do this to my parents they hit an entire new gear called, "Their undivided attention,"  all so they can go and destroy your life now.  I have seen them do that many times, to lots and lots of people over the years.  Hiring private investigators to find out all they need to know to destroy absolutely everything about you.  Ask the old members of the Church that are in hiding from them.

Here is the list of things I have been told so far. It is a little uncomfortable to know that so many other people know the following, I feel naked in front of them and I don't think that I should have to feel that way anymore.  So, I am going to vote that what they have done to me is wrong and place them into the category of my parents as enablers or maybe they are what are called Covert Narcissists. All in all I don't think that it was a healthy thing to do to me.  I would like to see something that is actionable not more destructive.  It is very difficult to sit and listen to people say the following to you.

1.) I never had a childhood.
2.) I was never loved.
3.) I was abused.
4.) I was severely neglected.
5.) I was beaten.
6.) I was spiritually abused.
7.) I was keeping secrets.
8.) I was very sad.
9.) I was psychologically abused.
10.) I was whipped (different from being beaten.)
11.) I was hit. (different from being beaten and/or whipped.)
12.) I didn't speak.
13.) I was molested.
14.) I was left alone.
15.) I was manipulated.

Pretty uncomfortable to hear these things.  I do think that it was extremely important for me to listen to the people who came to tell me these things.  It was damaging to me as a human being.  I hurt really badly after they left especially knowing that these people had just left me in the abuse so long ago, never going to get help or helping themselves.

It seems to get harder in my life, not easier. But I do believe that everything happens for a reason.  It just seems to be a hurtful thing to do to me again, but that's O.K., at least they feel better.

Maybe turn about is fair play after all.
